The Danish artist Mikkel Westrup (b. 1981) lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. While exploring various creative disciplines, he has recently honed his focus on porcelain decoration. Merging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary flair, Westrup meticulously hand-paints each motif, adorned with a cobalt blue theme that pays homage to both historical porcelain techniques and his own artistic journey. The resulting artworks showcase a captivating blend of organic and industrial elements – sharp yet soft, melting yet growing. In a remarkably short span of time, Westrup has cultivated a distinct artistic language, earning widespread acclaim for his contributions to the field.

The work is part of a charity auction to benefit “Børns Vilkår” (Children's Rights Denmark). The auction is initiated and curated by “Curated by Jens-Peter Brask”. The artists have generously donated their works. Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers do not charge fees or commission so the total proceeds will go undiminished to Børns Vilkår's important work.
